Us is a movie directed by Jordan Peele, which was released in 2019. Adelaide (the main character) is accompanied by her husband, her daughter, and her son to her beach house where she grew up as a child. She had a traumatic experience as she was growing up at, where she met her duplicate for the first time in an abandoned mirror maze. After that she had trouble speaking (its explained at the end of the movie) , which was no longer a problem when she grew up. As she became alder she thought she had overcome her fear until one night where she met her duplicate again who was accompanied by other people who turned out to be duplicates of her family who also turned out to be part of the doppelgangers. The doppelgangers is a group of multiple people who described themselves as shadows, they were locked underground for year and when they came out they wanted to get revenge by getting rid of their duplicate and replace them. They used scissors as their weapons, they had a meaning behind them which was two human whose brains connect but who are physically not connected. Once they Adelaide and her family were able to destroy the duplicates something big was revealed that shook most of the audience. The fear behind this movie is that the humans are scared that the doppelgangers will kill them and replace them. My dislikes about this is that it wasn't something most of the audience were expecting compared to the last movie Jordan Peele got out which was “Get out”. otherwise there many reasons why this movie was a good movie. The first reason is how they present the opening by going back in the past to when Adelin was still young and saw her duplicate for the first time. Basically what happened was that, when Adelaide was young she went to an abandoned mirror maze where she got lost in the dark, and when she thought she saw her reflection something else happened which changed her life forever. The reason why i liked this part of the movie is because none of the audience would have figured out that the beginning of the movie would finally make sense. Something else i found interesting is how each scene leaves a lot of mysteries for the audience until the last 5 minutes of the movie. The movies setting is in a nice place, but if it could be changed it would make a really big difference to it because the story is not only based on the dopplegangers but it's also based on the location there in. if it was changed to a different place it would change the plot of the story. Adding or removing a character wouldn't change much, because most characters don't have a big part in the movie. If i were to change the setting of the movie i would place it in a less developed town, because it's more scary for example, the less developed it is the more there is a high chance there is less light, more quiet and less people who live in the neighborhood. I would change some of the parts where they are fighting and make it more realistic for the audience to be more scared because of waiting for what's coming up next and to also be able to add some surprises to it.I chose that for my adaptation because i think by adding those few things it will make the movie more of a mystery/thriller.
